Lecture:
In todays lecture we spoke about relational databases and cloud computing, We didn't finish off all the slides as someone came in as an international speaker. However the lecture was about database management systems which is a software programme that lets you create a database and manipulate data in them, we also spoke about creating a datasheet view in a table. Thereafter the international speaker came in so we had spoke about that.
Seminar:
In todays seminar we learnt something new which was getting started with access 2010, We had to understand relational databases. And what the advantages of using access database I. We were given a sheet with an introduction to access 2010 which we had to read and thereafter create the database, Firstly we created a table and then had to insert primary keys. After this we learnt about how to compare two tables and edit the data within the tables. This was a lot more challenging than excel a lot more harder as it was the first time using it however once you get used to it, it became pretty easy to use. I learnt something new today to help me enhance my IT knowledge however it is something which I did struggle on. After completing this task we got into our groups and practiced our presentation slides which is due next week, Thereafter we did our blog.

Management information systems Week 7
Week 7:
Lecture:
In todays lecture we spoke about enhancing business intelligence Using information systems, Firstly we spoke about the threats and opportunities about organisations need in business intelligence and a few were things such as global threats or wider choices for consumers etc. We spoke about data base and business intelligence also and what the advantages of these are. Finally the last few slides consisted of Decision support systems (DSS) and expert systems. The lecture was pretty hard however was well explained.
Seminar:
In todays seminar we started off by continuing on doing some work on excel. First we started off by doing some work regarding scenarios in excel which was pretty straight forward and easy to understand. Thereafter we did another exercise on pivot tables which again was pretty straight forward to understand using the exercise sheet. After completing the excel sheets we got into our groups to discuss the presentation and powerpoint slides. Unfortunately two group members were missing so therefore we were not able to discuss thoroughly. In the seminar we learnt a lot in the sense of what pivot tables and scenarios are useful for especially with things such as accounting or money borrowed etc. The seminar was helpful in terms of helping us enhance our excel skills further and learning more on how to use excel. Finally we finished the lecture off by doing our blogs.

Week 6:
Lecture:
In todays lecture we spoke about organisational effectiveness using enterprise information systems. We learnt a lot about how organisational skills work and how we can adapt that into information systems, to end the lecture we spoke about the presentation that is due, and we were told we have to create a powerpoint presentation. The lecture was pretty interesting however I did go a bit off course with my concentration towards the end.

In todays seminar we had continued doing the Vlookup and If solutions using Excel, we were given three questions to complete in Excel and had to use the Vlookup and if equations in order to complete the questions, I have become pretty good at using these formulas after having a lot of practice at it and it has enhanced my knowledge on these formulas. To end the seminar we got into groups for a few minutes to discuss the video presentation that we will be doing, Finally to end the seminar we did our blog!

Management and informations systems week 5
Week 5:
Lecture:
In todays lecture we spoke about managers leaders and followers, The first thing we spoke about was managers vs leaders and what the difference is between the both, we also spoke about the different skills that both managers and leaders have. Thereafter we spoke about the theories people such as Henry Mintzberg and John Kotter on managers vs leaders and what there thoughts were. There after we spoke about the trait theory and what the key traits were of managers and leaders. I learnt a lot in this lecture regarding what the difference between leaders managers and followers are and the behavioural skills of each such as managers may not be motivated where as leaders dictate more and try to motivate.
Seminar:
During the seminar today we spoke about the coursework and the business idea, firstly we went over the business concept again and what the business is about, there after we formed into our groups to decide what problems we will tackle as a group and find solutions for them. Within our group as there is 5 of us we picked one challenge each which we thought would be most suitable for us and did research regarding that point and find solutions and then next week discuss it within our group. The seminar was a challenge in order to perfect our coursework and achieve the best result possible. To finish off the seminar we ended it by writing our blog

Management and informations systens week 4
Week 4 Lecture
In todays lecture we had carried in from last weeks lecture week 3 on managing infrustructers and services and also started on digital businesses and its environments , the lecture was pretty interesting in terms of how we were taught methods in order to manage a business which was explained well by Bilal Haider, We were also introduced to e-commerce towards the end of the lecture and also spoke about storage such as Google. We were also introduced to micro-environment and online marketplace analysis. It was an interesting lecture and I learnt a lot in this lecture.
Week 4 Seminar
In todays seminar we were given 4 questions to answer in Excel using the IF formula again, This was done using excel and helped me enhance my knowledge on this formula even more. Today I was able to use the IF formula without the help of the teacher or students and managed to complete all 4 questions on my own. We were also introduced to the VlookUp formula towards the end of the seminar which we will be carrying on further next week. Finally to end the seminar we were told to write our blog on what we did in the lecture and seminar
After the seminar we got together as a group to talk about the group work briefly and what steps we were going to take each week, we got to know each other more within the group and we decided that we would meet up every Friday before or after the seminar. We also created a whats app group in order to stay in contact with each other as we felt this was the best form of communication.

Management and information systems week 2
Due to medical reasons (cracked knee) which the university was informed about I was unable to attend however I was able to recap on my own using the lecture slides and seminar notes on the VLE. In this blog I will discuss what I was able to learn from the lecture and seminar.
Week 2 Lecture
The lecture is week 2 discusses about business models in the digital world, The lecture discussed what an organisation is and the features of an organisation, There is two types of organisation technical and behavioural. It also discusses how information systems has an impact on organisations. We were introduced to Mitzburgs 5 types of organisational structures.
Week 2 Seminar
From the seminar I can see that we had to do an excel sheet using formulas etc. I had caught up with this excel sheet in week 3 and was able to finish it at home. This allowed us to improve our excel skills and we were taught how to use the IF formula. This is a crucial for information systems as using excel sheets in this day and age is very crucial.

The lecture based in week one was about challenges that businesses face in the 21st Century. The lecture talks about how technology has changed firms and businesses in various ways and how its created a lot more opportunities for people and the growth of technology being beneficial to the people within the society. It also spoke about how sometimes technology can also be the failure to many businesses also due to the modern day technology.
Week one Seminar
From the seminar notes it shows that we were separated into groups or 4 or 5 for the presentation which we will be presenting (Joined the group in week 3)
A case study was also given about YouTube talking about how Youtube first started in 2005 and how it started. it was created by two former employees of paypal. It also discusses the users of Youtube and how it has grown during the past few years. Also an advantage for businesses as it allows you to advertise your business on it.
